Amplifiers and Subwoofers

The main ingredients of any great sounding car audio or home theater system are the power amplifiers and subwoofers. There is little doubt that the addition of a good quality amplifier and subwoofer will increase the enjoyment level of all listeners whether driving in your car or experiencing the thunder of a good home theater.

Many newer cars and trucks are equipped with what the manufacturers refer to as "Premium" sound systems.  But without a doubt, there isn't one OEM system that cannot be improved upon by adding the correct amplifier and subwoofer.  The original equipment (OEM) audio components simply do not offer the depth of bass provided by the right combination of power and sub woofer speaker.

Unfortunately some buyers will blow their budget on a high end subwoofer and try to skimp on the amplifier or the sub woofer enclosure.  In the decade in which we've been selling car audio on the web, we've found many customers buying new amplifiers or subwoofer enclosures were upgrading their initial attempts to build an outstanding sound system.

Sometimes matching car amplifiers and subwoofers is not as easy as one might think.  The right amplifier will provide more power for all your speakers giving you a boost in their sound quality by enabling them to deliver more accurate sound.  Throw the proper subwoofer into the mix and you'll hear lower frequencies that smaller full range speakers simply cannot reproduce.  But the key is matching the power of the amplifier to the capabilities of the subwoofer.  The savvy shopper will take his time and do his homework to decide exactly what brand and type sub is best for his vehicle.  In many cases, a good 12 inch sub will sound much better then a 15 inch model.  In the world of subwoofers, size really doesn't matter as much as you might think.  The proper power to a smaller subwoofer in a properly sized subwoofer enclosure makes a world of difference.

In the area of home theater systems or home audio, amplifiers and subwoofers are just as important.  You can spend hundreds of dollars on an audio amplifier and surround sound speakers.  But you’ll never be happy until you add a good subwoofer into the system.  It’s the amplifier and subwoofer that makes those movies come to life.

You can buy the best tower and bookshelf speakers on the market to compliment your home theater but the key is adding a good quality subwoofer powered by the correct amplifier to your system.  That single addition brings your new blu-ray movies to life.
